Computershare Technology Services - Global Planning and Delivery (CTS-GP&D) group manage the lifecycle of infrastructure across three regions including planning, design, strategy, roadmap development, project delivery and AU operations.

About the role:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Production Database Administrator (Production DBA) to join our tight-knit Global Planning and Delivery Team!

Reporting to the Team Lead - DBA, the Production DBA will be involved in delivering database / data services, supporting completed applications, assuring availability, optimising efficiency and promoting usability.

Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Build database / data environments according to standard build process and best practice
  • Ensure the production environment is operating with all OLA’s and SLA’s
  • Monitor and maintain optimal server health which allows for maximum throughput and minimal resource contention
  • Manage database security
  • Monitor all SQL Agent jobs
  • Troubleshoot availability and performance issues and perform remedial action/s
  • Gather internal and external audit requirements
  • Deploy database upgrades and scripts
  • Develop and test disaster recovery plan
  • Develop and test backup and recovery procedures to ensure RTOs and RPOs are met

To be successful in this role you must have the following:

  • Previous experience working as a Production DBA
  • Proficiency with SQLServer 2008R2/2012/2014/2016 and T-SQL
  • Experience with Oracle 11g/12c and PL/SQL
  • Sound understanding of change management systems (preferably TFS/HP Service Manager)
  • Strong investigative and problem-solving capabilities
  • The ability to be adaptable and flexible, and to work autonomously when required
  • The ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a team environment

Desirable skills/experiences:

  • Exposure to other data platforms and Cloud technologies
  • Knowledge of High Availability technologies and dispersed data centres
  • Experience working in a high security environment
  • Experience providing after hours emergency support
