Job Summary
Responsibilities include oversight of  the technical aspects of the Data Management Team.  Associates in this position will provide technical leadership, oversight, and mentoring to others.  Additionally, the Lead will review and provide guidance for the design and implementation of data related applications and processes.
Position Responsibilities and Essential Functions
  • Oversee and perform SQL Server database administration tasks, including, but not limited to: Implement and optimize SSIS packages, stored procedures, reporting, et al. 
  • Lead and make design decisions to create simple, elegant and re-usable software components as a part of larger enterprise applications.  Design, develop, test and implement SQL Server databases, processes, and business intelligence utilizing SLS standard development procedures and techniques that support the requirements defined by users and analysts.  Lead projects and monitor development efforts for progress and effectiveness.  Develop system documentation for all developed databases and processes, including flowcharts and data models.
  • Recruit, direct, motivate, and develop staff, maximizing their individual contribution, professional growth, and their ability to function effectively with their colleagues as a team.
  • Train and mentor development staff in technical tools and techniques in order to maximize their contribution to the team.  Responsible for suggesting, reviewing and justifying new technical tools and techniques and managing their implementation.
  • Translate customer requirements, recommend system solutions, and formulate detailed specifications from which enterprise level solutions are developed.  Work closely with business partners to produce quality products and processes that meet business needs.
  • Assist in budget planning and identifying, researching and justifying vendors, products and tools that will improve the efficiency and production of the organization.
  • Perform final review and testing to ensure databases and processes adhere to  scalability, design and development standards.  Review and test solutions developed by the Data Management team to ensure conformance to SLS development standards and to ensure solutions are developed utilizing appropriate technical components and techniques.
  • Work collaboratively with team members and business partners in defining, designing, developing and implementing technology solutions to improve business functions.  Provide analysis and design support in identifying, evaluating, and developing systems and procedures which are cost effective and meet user requirements.  Analyze applications and implement improvements to optimize performance.
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of projects, which includes the design and execution of acceptance test plans to ensure a successful implementation.  Perform thorough testing your of own and other team members’ developed code.   Develop system documentation for all developed processes, including design and technical specifications.
  • Understand the total SLS IT computing environment and daily operations and understand the impact of planned changes.  Provide tiered production support for technical and business users, including on-call responsibilities.  Manage and facilitate in design and technical meetings.
  • Track and report development progress and performance on a regular basis.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in high performance application design and architecture.
  • Experience with designing, developing, and deploying SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
  • Demonstrated experience with adhering to usability, design and development standards.
  • Demonstrated experience with all aspects of unit testing, performance testing and user acceptance testing.
  • Demonstrated experience with how to maximize SQL Server application scalability, performance, recoverability, and maintainability.
  • In-depth experience with the development lifecycle and software development methodologies.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, dynamic team environment and interact at all levels to ensure reliability, availability, scalability, and performance of applications.
  • Experience in overseeing development and implementation of multiple enterprise systems.
  • Experience in monitoring development and ensuring best practice development techniques.
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
 Education
  • Minimum of 6 years of development work experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years experience as a SQL Server DBA and database development and optimization.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relational database experience within a multi-tiered environment; including use of database performance and monitoring tools.
  • Minimum of 4 years experience with SQL coding including DDL, DML, stored procedures, SSIS, triggers and performance tuning.
  • Data modeling experience preferred.
  • Loan servicing or mortgage lending experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience in a leadership role.
  • Microsoft Certified Professional Developer (MCPD) Certification preferred.
  • B.S. or B.A. in Computer Science preferred.
Language Ability
 
Ability to read, analyze and interpret, journals, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to inquiries and complaints from customers and regulatory agencies. Write speeches, articles for publication, present information to top management, public groups and the board of directors.
 
Mathematical Ability
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
