Job Description

Apprentice BI (Business Intelligence) Developer

University isn’t for everyone!

Our higher level apprenticeships are a huge focus for Computershare. We see our apprentices as the future leaders of the global business!
What will you be doing?

Wikipedia describes Business Intelligence as “Business intelligence (BI) comprises the strategies and technologies used by enterprises for the data analysis of business information. BI technologies provide historical, current and predictive views of business operations. Common functions of business intelligence technologies include reporting, online analytical processing, analytics, data mining, process mining, complex event processing, business performance management, benchmarking, text mining, predictive analytics and prescriptive analytics.”

We say, it’s putting intelligence into business information, presenting data to users in an informative way to aid decision making to improve performance.

As a BI Developer apprentice you would start by learning the Microsoft SQL Business Intelligence tools of the trade and how to use these technologies to analyse our data warehouse.

As you develop through your apprenticeship you will learn to create and implement your own reports, dashboards and analysis from data sources that support client key performance indicators, regulatory and operational reporting requirements.

You will have the opportunity to work with internal users across the business and with client project teams to gather business requirements to design and develop solutions that meet these requirements.

Your career may take on different directions, be that technical, analytical or into management, all of which build on the foundations you will have put into place as an Apprentice BI Developer.
What makes a really good apprentice?
We welcome applications from bright ambitious individuals with a strong work ethic and desire to succeed. We want to give you a rewarding and practical “real world” start in your career so in return we will be looking for the following.

An active interest in development
You will be able to demonstrate self-development through personal/academic projects or even on the sports pitch.
What will the interview process look like?
The successful applicant will be appointed through a multi stage application process. All designed to get the best out of you!
We will be running a prerecorded interview through our tech partner Launchpad. You can complete this using a smart phone at a time and location that suits you. It’s simply designed to get to know you a little better.
This will then be followed with an onsite interview with one of the team!
