Main Purpose of the Role


The engineer is responsible for providing technical support for Computershare’s Web and Windows application software within the EMEA region, always striving to deliver CIS by providing operational solutions/apps where possible. This is a dynamic environment and will include support for some legacy systems as well as brand new products. The engineer will be expected to utilise their analytical, technical, and organisational skills in a range of tasks undertaken within the development support team in support of the region’s technology offering to the Computershare businesses.


Key Responsibilities



The activities noted below provide a non-exhaustive list of the responsibilities held by the engineer. The Company will expect the engineer to assume additional responsibilities, as business needs dictate.

  • In conjunction with other support teams, troubleshoot and diagnose production issues including breaks in applications, performance and data anomalies

  • Travelling to CTS & client sites, including internationally, to execute these duties.  This may involve stays of several weeks.

  • Advocate and implement improvements to the existing code base.

  • Any other ‘reasonable’ activity.

  • Drive personal development through self-learning.

  • Participate in development community, attend and deliver session’s e.g. lightning talks.

  • Integrate with development teams, keeping an awareness of design patterns and key technology decisions.

  • Create and maintain development support wiki pages.

  • Attend support handover meetings to ensure new functionality is successfully handed over to support.

  • Handle multiple concurrent issues and determine their priority based on severity

  • Spot inefficacies and improve upon processes, create intuitive solutions or coach other support staff

  • Fix issues by performing small changes to application code, databases or configuration in a timely manner ensuring that all CTS development guidelines and standards are met

 

 

Essential Skills, Experience and Competencies

  • A minimum of 1-2 Years’ experience with Microsoft .NET technology stack.
  • Previous commercial experience in a support role.
  • Previous development experience with Team foundation technologies.
  • Good working knowledge of SQL Server 2012\\2014\\2016 and T-SQL.
  • Experience with Web technologies (HTML, XML, CSS, Javascript, AJAX, Web Services).
  • Excellent troubleshooting, debugging and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong communication skills, possessing the ability to work with Mangers and technical staff.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with experience of mentoring or training staff.

 

Desirable Skills, Experience and Competencies

  • Basic understanding of the fundamentals of financial markets, in particular share ownership covering Issuer & Capital markets
  • Experience with Microsoft Team Foundation Server
  • Experience with SSRS & SSIS
  • Experience with full SDLC from application definition through to deployment and maintenance
  • Experience of the agile development methodology
  • Exposure to ITIL practices is an advantage
