This is an exciting opportunity to join a team within Service Operations for the Computershare Technology Services (CTS) department. The Service Operations unit offers a fast pace and challenging environment that is ideal for technical experts looking to develop themselves and kick start their IT career.


Main Purpose of the Role

Responsibilities will include the support and maintenance of a broad suite of Business, Financial and Operational applications throughout the EMEA region. Applications range from in-house developed systems to third party software created across multiple technology frameworks. The role is required to work closely with the Service Management team, utilising the core ITIL principles in Change, Release, Incident and Problem management as well as supporting the successful delivery of new services/applications into the production environment. 


Key responsibilities will include:-

  • In conjunction with other support teams, troubleshoot and diagnose production issues including breaks in applications, performance and data anomalies.
  • Play a key part in the change approval process ensuring that all due diligence has been completed prior to production deployment.
  • Actively look to identify risks and ensure controls are put in place to reduce impact.
  • Work with development teams to perform system upgrades and new product releases.
  • Increase system availability by actively monitoring systems and performing system management tasks.
  • Analyse system capacity for business events and ensure that steps are taken to safely handle variations in system load.
  • Ensure that new functionality and new applications are successfully transitioned into the existing operating model for support.
  • Work as a team to document support processes, architecture diagrams, known issues, business processes and user guides for all applications that the team are responsible for.
  • Analyse, plan and implement technical projects for the Service Operation Department within Technology.

The successful candidate will work in the Application Support Team, troubleshooting issues, supporting day-to-day requirements of the Business, helping to deliver high profile technical projects and improving the overall quality of service and stability of Computershare application suite. This is a fast pace, hands-on IT focused role, suited to an individual with experience of Application Support or equivalent technical experience. The applicant will be focused, adaptable and above all, possess a will to learn.

Essential Skills, Experience and Competencies

  • 1-2 years’ experience in a relevant IT related role
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting and debugging Skills
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills - written and verbal
  • Strong interpersonal skills - A good team player
  • Experience of business analysis, release management and service delivery
  • Understanding of ITIL framework, SDLC and DevOps concepts
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Good working knowledge of SQL Server and T-SQL
  • Experience with web technologies or similar (HTML, XML, CSS, Javascript, AJAX, Web Services).


Desirable Skills, Experience and Competencies

  • Basic understanding of the fundamentals of financial markets, in particular share ownership covering Issuer & Capital markets
  • Experience with SSRS & SSIS
  • Experience with full SDLC from application definition through to deployment and maintenance
  • Experience of the Agile development methodology
